Nokia N95 US 3G Passes FCC

nokia-n95-8gb-us-pmptoday.jpg

The 8GB Nokia 3G for the US will be available shortly as it had just passed the FCC testing. We’re expecting Nokia to announce its availability and confirm its pricing soon. Also called N95-3, it’s amazing how little 3G matters these days. I seem to remember a time when the N95 news was almost as hot as iPhone news, and that was before Nokia made an N95 that’s compatible with US 3G networks. I wonder whether a 16GB iPhone will get such a lukewarm reception.

Samsung SGH-T819 T-Mobile Review - Cnet

Samsung SGH-T819 T-MobileCnet reviews the Samsung SGH-T819 T-Mobile: ‘The Samsung SGH-T819 for T-Mobile has a comfortable feel in the hand and a sturdy construction; we also liked the convenient thumb grip for moving the slider up and down. The main display of the Samsung SGH-T819 from T-Mobile measures two inches and supports 262,000 colors. Like most screens of its class, it’s relatively bright and offers a vibrant resolution. But on the flip side, it’s also difficult to see in direct light. You can change the backlighting time, the brightness, and the dialing font type, size, and color.

The good: The Samsung SGH-T819 for T-Mobile is an easy-to-use cell phone with a decent midrange feature set.

The bad: The phone’s call quality wasn’t the best, and its navigation array was somewhat cramped. Also, photo quality was average.

The bottom line: The Samsung SGH-T819 is a serviceable cell phone, but there are better options in T-Mobile’s lineup.’

Samsung Thinks They "Know What Women Want," Releases Two Fashion Phones [Cellphones]

SGHL310320.jpgAccording to Samsung, the SGH-L310 and SGH-L320 are specially made for women because 'they know what women want:' cellphones with 'female applications' inside like a shopping list function, a perfume-matching system and a calorie counter. Of course there's techy stuff like Bluetooth, 2 mega pixel cameras and concealed external screens too, but the slightly patronizing PR is just too much for us to take.

So the shopping list function might come in useful for any user, and the perfume system sounds strange: its suggestions are based on your favorite food, drinks and so on. But the calorie counter seems just a little bit like girly stereotyping, in a 1970s kind of way.

The black and gold SGH-L310 clamshell at least has an unusual S-shaped hinge design, an external OLED alert screen hidden beneath some scroll patterns, and a crystal-decorated camera. The more discrete SHG-L320 has a shape that reminds us of a Motorola PEBL (designed to be 'easy to grip', in case you were wondering), and a two-tone polished finish.

In terms of real specs, there's nothing really remarkable here: both phones have GPRS, EDGE and are tri-band; both play MP3s and AACs, have a 2 mega pixel camera and take a micro SD card for expansion. The L310 has a 1.8 inch TFT display, and USB 2.0/Bluetooth 2.0, whereas the L320 seems to be built around a different chassis, with a 1.9 inch screen and USB 1.1. Both will be available in Russia in February, the L310 at €240 ($352) and the L320 at €220 ($322), with sales expanding into Europe later in the year.

New 5 megapixel Sony Ericsson device leaked

With Mobile World Congress coming up in exactly 3 weeks we’re going to see more and more leaks coming out from people who have absolutely no restraint when it comes to keeping secrets. This new 5 megapixel Sony Ericsson device is supposed to have a 16 million color QVGA (320x240) screen, a first for Sony Ericsson. While it will not have a Xenon flash like it’s older brother the K850i, at least we get a regular looking dpad and T9 keyboard. Not digging the color scheme, but knowing SE there will be other variants. No word as to which bands this device supports.

[Via: Slashphone]

Update: Thanks to D3RK for linking me to GSM Arena who says they’ve seen the phone and say it is only a 3 megapixel unit. We will have to wait and see.

Samsung t819 hits T-Mobile with 1700Mhz 3G

Samsung t819 launches on T-Mobile with 1700Mhz 3G frequency supportFollowing on the FCC’s green-lighting of the Samsung t819 3G slider last month, Samsung and T-Mobile have made the Samsung t819 officially official for T-Mobile’s US subscriber-base. Now, we’re calling this Samsung t819 a ‘3G slider’ because (1) it’s a slider and (2) it supports T-Mobile USA’s own special flavor of 3G spectrum (the 1700Mhz band, as we saw in the FCC-filing). Interestingly, T-Mobile isn’t marketing this thing as a 3G handset, instead claiming that the quad-band GSM radio maxes out with EDGE data speeds.

With a 1.3 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, microSD card slot, myFaves support, and a 220 x 176 display, theSamsung t819 is firmly planted in T-Mobile’s mid-range lineup.

While the Samsung t819 is officially an EDGE-only jobby, we’ve got a sneaking suspicion that the handset will be rocking out on T-Mobile’s 3G network - once it goes live, that is.

Grab your own Samsung t819 unnofficial 3G slider on T-Mobile website or at retail stores. ‘Coffee Brown’ seems to be T-Mo’s color of choice for now.

Sprint-Nextel Samsung Z400 Direct Connect PTT Phone

Sprint-Nextel Samsung Z400The Sprint-Nextel Samsung Z400 is a rugged phone that just made it’s way through the FCC. The handset will be operable by Sprint-Nextel’s Direct Connect, push-to-talk method of use, which has become popular in recent years. The Sprint-Nextel Samsung Z400 is actually pretty interesting because Samsung does not usually do the ‘rugged’ look. Usually that honor is left to Motorola.

This little handset is obviously made to take some abuse, with it’s rubberized edges and shock-resistant insides. The Sprint-Nextel Samsung Z400 also features a media player, camera and Bluetooth.

TrustedReviews Checks Out the HTC S730

http://www.trustedreviews.com/mobile-devices/review/2008/01/20/HTC-S730-Windows-Mobile-Smartphone/p1

'When Riyad and I first saw HTC's S710 we were both blown away. Riyad even gave it a coveted Editor's Choice award when he reviewed it in its guise as the Orange SPV E650. The reason for our fandom was simple. HTC had taken a Windows Mobile Smartphone and made it functional for text creation. Windows Mobile ‘Smartphones' don't have touch-screens, so there was no option for an on-screen tappable keyboard or handwriting recognition such as you find in Windows Mobile Pocket PCs, or, as we are obliged to differentiate them these days, Windows Mobile 6 Standard (smartphone) and Windows Mobile 6 Professional (Pocket PC) devices. All rather confusing especially when the term smartphone is commonly used to describe a phone with advanced, PC-like functionality.'

Sandra Vogel has reviewed the HTC S730 QWERTY slider smart phone. The reviewer has compared this unit with the older S710, the non-3G version, and wonders if there are enough updates to justify an upgrade. Check out the review for the final verdict. I love the TouchFLO inspired home screen. Wish it was available as a download for the other HTC smart phones. Our US readers should note that this unit does not support the US 3G networks. The FCC recently cleared the US edition of the S730, codenamed WING200, but details regarding the availability and price are not known at this time.

C228s Bayan “Wireless Landline”

Wireless Landline

I was sent over a HUAWEI CDMA-based C228s phone, aptly known as the ‘Bayan wireless landline.’ With GSM being the primary network used for mobile phones in Asia, CDMA still has its niche. In the Philippines, the wireless landline concept has become a favorite among vendors and stall owners that don’t have access to a landline.

Wireless landline 2

There are of course arguments about how a wireless landline is a step back in technology - isn’t a ‘wireless landline’ really just a mobile phone? Why repackage the concept to make it more appealing? There is a lot of truth to this, as the landline can even send SMS and browse the Internet. I would want to say though that the ‘perks’ of the technology necessitate cheaper rates. For one, paying a flat rate per month gives you unlimited call capability to other same network wireless landlines. Data is also a lot cheaper although I personally have not tried the service quality. You may want to proceed here for a more detailed user review of the wireless landline.

Wireless landline 3

In the photos are the contents of the CDMA HUAWEI mobile phone with FM tuner. In terms of features, there’s nothing really spectacular about the unit apart from the fact that it is very light and small. I tried using the phone to make several calls and the signal is highly dependent on the area of coverage you reside in.

Bayan wireless 4

Is the wireless landline a step back in technology? Maybe. But there is still a strong niche when it comes to this service. For business owners that don’t want to rely on mobile phones for their shop keepers, this is a good alternative. This leaves me with several questions:

Is CDMA obsolete in other parts of the world? So is it all about the rates then? In your country, how do other telcos rebrand themselves to meet market expectations? Would love to hear from you.

Sony W520i Concept Phone

W520iconcept.jpg

Take a look at this interesting concept phone brewed up by Muhammad Oli of the Esato Forum, the Sony Ericsson W520i. True to the 'W' in its name, Muhammad wants it to be a Walkman first and everything else as just an add-on. It will be a quadband phone with a touchscreen interface based on the A200 platform, a meager 2-megapixel camera, Walkman 3.0 player, A2DP Bluetooth support, and of course, the accelerometer. Add an FM tuner to the mix and you have your perfect middle-order music phone.

Asus M930 is official - Nokia E90 competitor running Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard

Asus has gone official with their Nokia E90-fighter, the Asus M930. Complete with Nokia E90-stying, the lateral-flipper brings the ‘Communicator’ goods to the Windows Mobile camp. Unfortunately, this brick-ish Asus M930 Communicator runs Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard, so you won’t be getting your touch-on anytime soon with this handset.

Asus M930 Communicator runs Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard

Still, if you’re looking for a WinMo alternative to the QWERTY-sliders from the likes of HTC, this Asus M930 Communicator might be your best bet.

We already know everything there is to know about this tri-band GSM device, but here’s a quick rundown on the specs:

- Windows Mobile 6 Standard

- TI TI2431 processor at 450MHz

- 3G + HSDPA

- QVGA 2″ Screen (external) + 2.6″ WQVGA screen (internal) - 400x240

- Internal QWERTY, external 12 key keypad

- 256MB ROM

- 64MB RAM

- WiFi / Bluetooth 2.0

- 2.0 Megapixel Autofocus Camera

- microSD expansion

- 158g

- 113mm x 54mm x 18.7mm

Seeing as how the Asus M930 Communicator isn’t slated to ship until CeBIT in March, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to get our hands on this monster.

LG Prada Silver to Take on iPhone

 lg_prada_silver.jpg

LG has only sold 700,000 units of the Prada Phone since its release world wide, a far cry from iPhone’s 5 million. Maybe a silver LG Prada will make more headway in beating Apple’s Phone. At least, that’s what LG is hoping. It’s pretty much the same phone except for the color - 3-inch touch-screen display, 2.0 egapixel camera, bluetooth and a Prda-designed interface (color-wise). Perhaps DMB TV to be added eventually.

(Via PMP Today.)

Samsung Access, AT&T's other MediaFLO launch phone

We already know that the Prada-esque LG CU920 Vu is one of AT&T's two launch handsets in support of its MediaFLO-based mobile TV rollout, but what's the other one the carrier mentions? Mobiledia has scored gorgeous shots of this not-so-gorgeous phone, the A827 'Access' from Samsung, and the combination of AT&T branding and a dedicated 'TV' button next to the d-pad has us believing that it'll be stepping up to the plate for that role. Unlike the Vu, the Access seems to be a lower-end handset on account of a 1.3 megapixel cam, unremarkable design, and smallish display, so we're certainly hoping its price point reflects the specs accordingly. Good to see that AT&T wants to bring mobile TV to every price segment, we suppose.

Nokia 3555 spotted on FCC; Heading to AT&T AND T-Mobile

Nokia 3555 spotted on FCC

It was the end of October when we first saw the Nokia 3555 and we though it’s will be the AT&T thing only. Today, I am happy — yes, happy — to report that we were wrong. Nokia’s low-end 3G clamshell was spotted at the FCC’s website from where we’ve learned it will also end up in T-Mobile’s portfolio. The right frequency is there (1700MHz), and now it’s just a matter of patience — which we’re slowly losing — to wait for the Deutsche Telekom owned mobile operator to finally roll out its 3G network in the States…

Hands-on with the 3G Neonode N2.5... yes, N2.5

While most of the US is just getting their first glimpse of the Neonode N2, we've got the Neonode N2.5 for you dear readers. We were assured that this engineering prototype features a heftier battery to offset complaints raised by N2 owners. The other complaint -- lack of 3G data -- is also solved. It will also feature A2DP-enabled Bluetooth 2.1 (yes, 2.1) when its ships (no time specified) and a big fat 3G radio of unspecified type. Thing is, this time, the N2.5 is specifically targeted at the US market with Neonde already starting to sort through the carrier quagmire in order to bring it to market. WiFi? Maybe, that all depends upon the carrier's demands. Other than those changes, it features the same UI and touch screen technology of the tiny N2 which is fine by us. The only question now is how consumers react to it's new chubby profile.

Motorola W230 W270

Motorola

As an aside, the ‘W’ naming scheme is a bit of a throw off as one might think that this is a Sony Ericsson phone. Motorola has released a new line of entry level phones in the W230 and W270. No fancy bells here compared to the RAZR line. Both phones stress a relatively high memory expansion bundle of 2GB but cut down on other features. Essentially, both phones are entry level handhelds.

Motorola Z10 hands-on from CES 2008 Las Vegas

Motorola signWe’ve known about it for some time now. We’ve been waiting for it to drop. Motorola just made it official. And, now we had a chance to play with the Motorola Z10.

Unfortunately, it turns out that the Z10 display units that we had a chance to test at the Motorola booth were still prototypes. We’ll talk more about what that means in a bit. For now we’re going to give you a bit of insight into the Motorola Z10 user experience.

Overall, the Moto Z10 is a striking piece of RAZR-esque design that is both bold and sleek at the same time. The handset’s lines are essentially the same as Motorola’s Z8 slide-phone - with the same ‘slide and bend’ design.

Motorola Z10

Keep reading for the rest of the goods…

HELLOMOTO

Buttons feel nice and rubbery with a satisfying tactile response. Dedicated music controls and camera buttons make it as easy to capture your memorable moments with the photo and video camera as it is to kick back and listen to some tunes.

Motorola Z10

And, as Dusan mentioned previously, this Z8 successor bumps up the camera image-sensor pixel count to 3.2 megapixels, up from the Z8’s 2 million pixels. Pictures are sharp and clear with virtually no shutter lag - and the camera has a ‘multi-shot’ feature that allows you to take 3, 5, or 12 pictures in sequence.

Motorola Z10

However, likely owing to the fact that the Z10 we played with was a prototype (production units were said to be available at the end of the Q1 2008), video recording on the handset was unacceptably sub-par. Video seemed to be recording at something like 10-15fps - not what we expected from the Z10.

Motorola Z10

Motorola Z10 hands-on from CES 2008 Las Vegas

Overall, the MOTORIZR Z10 is a slick piece. We weren’t able to test out the 3G HSDPA and full HTML browser, nor the instantaneous video broadcasting, but those are some pretty trick features that are sure to appeal to a lot of people. Oh, and don’t forget the 3.5mm headphone jack - Sony Ericsson always does.

CES 2008: LG's Sprint Xohm WiMAX Smart Phone
Could this be the first smart phone for Sprint's Xohm WiMAX system? An LG rep standing by said that this sleek, Windows Mobile device--about the size and shape of LG's Prada fashion phone--could very easily run both Sprint's WiMAX and CDMA EVDO systems in tandem. (The demo model combined WiMAX and GSM, a mix you aren't likely to see in the US.)

The Windows Mobile 6 smart phone is based on a Qualcom MSM7200 chipset (which typically has a 400 Mhz processor) and has 128 MB RAM. It's running Windows Mobile 6 Professional, with a 320x240 touch screen. The LG rep promised 'seamless handoff' between CDMA or GSM and WiMAX. Needless to say, this isn't on any Sprint roadmap that's been made public.

Samsung Solid heads for the UK

Samsung Solid heads for the UK Samsung and O2 have joined hands to announce the Samsung Solid's launch - the first hardy handset from the Korean cellphone manufacturer. The Solid (so-named for obvious reasons, no doubt about that) claims to be able to withstand its fair share of knocks thanks to anti-shock properties as well as built-in water and dust resistance. A thick rubber body ensures a drop on the floor won't result in your heart going down vertically as well. Features of the Samsung Solid include a built-in FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, a camera, and an integrated flashlight. Heck, it also boasts SOS dialing that sends an alert message to a nominated person whenever you press the volume button three times in quick succession - I wouldn't place the Solid in a kid's hands as you could end up trying to explain just how you managed to send 10 SOS signals within a couple of minutes. For instance, it functions as intuitive media controls for audio playback, a scroll wheel for long lists, a zoom dial whenever you want to snap images with its 3 megapixel camera, and even provide extra input keys whenever you want to compose a text message. The LG KF600 also comes with GPRS and EDGE connectivity (what, no 3G? That's a travesty by today's standards), a 240 x 320 QVGA main display, Bluetooth and USB 2.0 connectivity. Asus bringing GPS-packing P527 smartphone to US this year

We've always sort of enjoyed the form factor of Asus' P527 GPS-enabled WinMo 6 smartphone, and now it looks like we'll be able to get our hot little hands on one when Asus officially launches the unit in North America sometime early this year. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Asus thinks its first North American handset deserves 3G, so we're still stuck at quadband EDGE, but the built-in WiFi, Bluetooth, and Google Earth GPS integration kinda sorta make up for it -- but we're wait for pricing info to hit before we go looking for our wallets.

Joby Zivio™
The Joby Zivio™ is an elegant, high performance Bluetooth™ headset with a telescoping microphone boom. The first of its kind, the Zivio's retractable microphone provides exceptional audio quality in environments that traditionally challenge headsets, such as high-noise public areas and moving automobiles.

'Smart' Boom
An ultra-sensitive microphone sits on the end of the extendable boom. Microphone gain is automatically adjusted up and down as the user slides the boom to the optimal position. When the boom is extended to the corner of the mouth, the gains are reduced to their lowest levels. The result? Background noise falls away, leaving only clear, natural sound.

All-Day Comfort
Included with the Zivio are sets of interchangeable earpieces and soft gel caps that are mounted onto a ball-and-socket joint to provide the most comfortable fit possible. An optional earloop attaches via magnet and can be used to position the Zivio in the best horizontal and vertical position to ensure all-day comfort.

Ear Candy
The Zivio can be worn on either the left or the right ear and will not interfere with eyewear or earrings. Its beautiful design, multitude of color offerings, and jewelry-like appearance make it a pleasure to wear in public.

MWG has new handsets

MWG has new handsets What was once known as O2 Asia is now called MWG, and this company is currently working on a couple of handsets that will be launched later this year. A couple of these include the Zinc II (as shown on your right) along with the Atom V. The former will retain its original slider form factor, but boasts more processing muscle thanks to Samsung's 500Mhz processor, HSDPA support, tri-band UMTS and quad-band GSM, GPS navigation and a 2 megapixel camera. As for the Atom V, it shares many of the Zinc II's specifications save for differences such as the Intel PXA 520MHz processor and the lack of a QWERTY keypad in lieu of a jog dial. There is no word on pricing as at press time.

BlueAnt unveils voice-controlled V1 Bluetooth headset

Anyone who's used the stylish, compact, voice-isolating Z9 Bluetooth headset from BlueAnt knows that while the unit itself performs satisfactorily, remembering the thousand-and-one unintuitive button combinations (three-second push to end a call?) can be a real pain in the ass. Well thankfully for fans of that somewhat flawed product, the Australian manufacturer will be back as CES with yet another dual-mic model, the V1, which drops the Z9's awkward input method in favor of almost complete voice control. The so-called BlueGenie Voice User Interface promises to operate the full suite of headset functions with the use of but a single activation button, which -- if it can actually work in real-world situations -- should definitely help give this new model a leg (or six -- ha) up on the competition.

Tracfone LG 225 Review - EzineArticles

Tracfone LG 225EzineArticles reviews the Tracfone LG 225: ‘The Tracfone LG 225 is the best quality phone that Tracfone has released so far. The Motorola W370 is a nice phone also but it does not come with a camera. I have found the camera feature handy even though I almost never send photos. I like taking pictures and having them on my phone. The LG 225 is the best value Tracfone because the doubler card is already installed.’

Motorola W370 Review - PhoneScoop

Motorola W370A PhoneScoop user reviews the Motorola W370: ‘The Motorola W370 (Tracfone, AT&T GoPhone) is nothing short of great. I consider it to be superior to all prepaid cell phones (which I have had plenty of experience with) and almost all of the of the contract phones. It is pretty and simple and has lots of features. If you want a great cell phone the Motorola W370 is the way to go. It is certainly in the same class as the Razr and Krzr and is a lot simpler too. Since it doesn’t have a camera, it should be perfect for parents who want heir kid to have a nice phone but one without a camera (there have incidents that were inappropriate involve camera phones). This is the perfect phone for some one who wants a phone that is simple and advanced.’

Tracfone Motorola V170 Review - LetsTalk

Tracfone Motorola V170A LetsTalk user reviews the Tracfone Motorola V170: ‘The Tracfone Motorola V170 cell phone is like a pretty face with a bad personality. Don’t judge this book by the cover. The caller often sounds like they are speaking Martian or something. The volume only goes as high as level 7, and it’s hard to determine any volume change from level 3 on up. I would not recommend the Motorola V170, I have been a faithful Tracfone user for years, and this cell phone is going back to Walmart.’

Another user writes: ‘I love my new Tracfone Motorola V170 cell phone but I have trouble hearing the caller, especially if I’m not in a quiet place. Is there any way to increase the volume of the incoming call? Also, although the phone is user friendly, the accompanying book is not. It often skips steps.’

The real white Nokia N82 appears

A few days ago Dusan posted a picture of a Nokia N82 that he thought was the white version, turns out it wasn’t, but I can’t blame him for thinking it was. You can barely tell the difference between the current N82 and the white variant. The front is still the same blinged out chrome I love to hate; the only difference is the back of the device. Here is hoping that a black N82 will be all black, not just the rear.

Which N82 is the white N82?

Can you tell now?

Motorola Z6c World Edition Review - PhoneScoop

Motorola Z6c World EditionPhoneScoop reviews the Motorola Z6c World Edition: ‘The Motorola Z6c World Edition comes with a Verizon SIM to use out of the U.S. They are unlocking the phones but do not have the unlock code yet, so I cannot see whether my UK SIM will work.

The Motorola Z6c World Edition feels solid and is quite attractive. The keypad is shiny and a bit reflective making it hard to see in certain conditions. The call quality is very good. The menu system is easy to use and contacts are easy to set up.

The big challenges involved the media card slot and SIM slot. Both are under the battery, so if you want to remove the media card, you have to turn off the phone and remove the back cover and battery.

Samsung i760 Review - PhoneScoop

Samsung i760PhoneScoop user reviews the Samsung i760: ‘I’ve had the Samsung i760 for about six weeks and love it. I’ve had a PDA phone since they became available and this is the best so far. No freezes or signifigant delays between screens or apps. After 2 years (and 5 warranty replacements)with my 6700 this is great. The Samsung i760 comes with Voice Command. Had to buy it from Microsoft for both standard and extended batteries with my 6700. And the battery life is way better than I expected. And it comes with both standard and extended batteries. The Samsung i760 is actually a good value as far as a PDA phone goes.’

Motorola i335 Review - Cnet

Motorola i335Cnet reviews the Motorola i335: ‘The Motorola i335 has everything you’ve come to love in a Nextel cell phone design. The sturdy candy bar model looks like it could take quite a beating, and the interface, while far from flashy, is functional and reliable. But as we mentioned earlier, the Motorola i335 is the first Nextel phone to make a play for the thin handset trend. At 4.7 inches by 1.8 inches by 0.5 inch, it sheds much of the bulk that plagued the carrier’s earlier models though the Motorola i335 remains slightly heavy at 3.7 ounces. The design succeeds not because it’s fashionable, but rather because it’s simple and practical. Clad in black with a few silver touches, it’s unassuming as well.

The good: The Motorola i335 has a durable, user-friendly design and a decent feature set. It also offers excellent call quality.

The bad: The handset has a dim internal display and the directional keys on the navigation toggle are too thin.

The bottom line: The Motorola i335 isn’t showy or exciting, but it offers superior call quality and the standard Nextel features in an accessible design.’

Nokia 5610 XpressMusic cleared by the FCC

Nokia 5610 XpressMusic cleared by the FCC

In case you live in the U.S. and wanted to grab a decent mid-range music-centric phone, you’ll be glad to know FCC has recently approved the Nokia 5610 XpressMusic. What seems as the direct successor to the popular Nokia 5310 model has kept the slider form factor, yet it know has a much better 3 megapixel camera. Nokia’s Series 40 is running the show, meaning you’ll have one of the easiest to use phones on the market — not that other feature phone platforms are more complicated, it’s just that Nokia feature phones are known to provide great out-of-the-box experience.

At the moment of this writing, we’ve no idea whether some carrier will pick it up, but you’ll always be able to grab it at one of Nokia’s flagship stores in New York or Chicago, or directly from the handset maker’s website.

Sharp 904 / Vodafone 904SH review

vodafone-904sh.jpg

The Vodafone 904SH is a high-end 3G handset built by Sharp, exclusively for the Vodafone network.

The Sharp 904 measures 104x50x28mm and weighs 151 grams, so it’s quite a large device. Talktime on 3G is around 3 hours with 15 days standby time. In addition to UMTS 2100 (3G), it supports GSM 900/1800/1900 with GPRS, meaning that the Vodafone 904SH can be used pretty much anywhere in the world.

'

vodafone-904sh_1.jpg

Amazingly, the display in the Sharp 904 is a VGA resolution device (480x640 pixels) measuring 2.4″ diagonally (61mm approximately). This has more than four times the pixel count of the QVGA (240x320 pixels) display found in the 903 and 902 models. We believe that this is the highest density display so far on a mobile handset.
