OpenMoko’s Linux-based smartphone, the Neo1973, is almost ready for deployment. Around 1,00 devlopment kits will be available to phone developer/hackers on July 9. While it’s known as the first open source mobile device, it’s certainly not the only Linux-based phone available now.
The mass-market version unlocked Neo 1973 (GTA02) will be sold to the masses at $450 for the Neo Base and $600 for Neo Advanced in October. And it will have the following new hardware goodies: 802.11 b/g WiFi, Samsung 2442, SoCSMedia 3362 Graphics Accelerator, 2 3D Accelerometers, and 256MB Flash. Read [OpenMoko]
